PMS just adds insult to injury. It's like God said "you know what? I don't think they should just bleed vaginally for five to seven days- inhibiting sex, going commando, sitting for extended periods of time without worrying, and being terrified that they will have an accident. No, no, that surely isn't enough. The five to seven days prior to the ( Read more... )

So says the man. Actually, I think I know what you are talking about....If I remember correctly, PMS only manifests itself when there is some kind of nutrient imbalance (thus when you have cravings for things, it is your body trying to balance itself out). So if you are eating a balanced diet, you wont get PMS. Was that what you were thinking of Sam?

Well, I was sort of kidding. But according to psychological theory the actual phenomena of "PMS" doesn't actually exist. There is the fact that a woman's body is going through a somewhat uncomfortable process which, in anyone, can effect the way you feel. But, theoretically, if a man had the same symptoms shortly preceeding menstruation then he would react emotionally in a similar way, barring the occurrence of many women manifesting emotions because of a self-fulfilling process. Theoretically.

And I learned this in a textbook written by women. So, so says the women, too.

:) I know you were kidding Sam. But that was actually very interesting what you posted, and I enjoyed reading it. What was the textbook? is it from a class you are taking? It sounds interesting!

also, get plenty of sleep. i got horrifically violent pms this summer for what i thought was no reason. like, throwing shit, yelling at my mom, freaking the fuck out, punching things... and then when i got back to school i was preparing for another episode... and it didn't happen. and then i realized i'd been working at yes house this summer, which equaled not getting regular sleep (two overnights in a week will do that). so yeah. lots of sleep, lots of good food, lots of water... and it's definitely cut down from screaming rages to vague annoyance.

but yeah, sam, pms does exist. it's not just psyhcosomatic.
