I've been saying for the past couple of years that I wanted to be a librarian.  I don't think I do, though...I want to make things.  I don't know what I want to make, but being stuck doing what I am doing now just isn't it.  I know that librarianship isn't quite the same as what I'm doing here...what I'm doing here is general office work in a ( Read more... )

Well, if you are interested in making clothes, but not really modern fashion clothes, and specifically Ren faire type stuff... what about trying to become a costumer? If you actually get to be good, you could maybe make custom stuff for Halloween, or other people's costumes for conventions over the internet, or make costumes for plays or even movies?

When I was a little kid, I went to a person who just had their own shop making really nice costumes. I don't know if those kind of people exist anymore, but they've existed as late as in my own lifetime, so I'm sure they can't have completely died out...

I mean, I don't know you very well, so this is just what I would think of with little basis to go off of, but I guess what I'm saying is, I think that you probably can find a job out of making things.

Not sure if you can do that kind of thing with crochet or not, but if you can make hats with 1. ventilated crowns, and 2. enough brim to do some good as shade, then people can use hats all year 'round here...

I don't think going for an extended time through college (or rather, any time in college for that matter) to be a librarian is worth it either. At least you're starting to narrow your scope.
