So this is my contribution to the hmd_rareathon, because sometimes you just have to try something different ;-) My prompt was a picture of an old record player and the pairing I chose was Cuddy/Scooter. No, seriously. It basically follows the events of Conspiracy of Hope but you don't need to read that one to follow this one.

And since Cuddy is happy, I'm assuming it won't last. Cuddy's really no better/luckier at relationships than House or Wilson, poor girl.

This is amazing work - you've got a deft and ferocious skill with dialogue. Very impressive, clips right along and everyone stays in character. A totally flawless response to the prompt and the rarepairing. *applauds wildly*

Thanks for the wonderful fb :-) I was a little leery of writing such a rare rarepair but I ended up really enjoying giving Cuddy a little old-fashioned romance.

This is so lovely and funny. I love how canny Henry is to House's tricks, and how Cuddy's new relationship tips House over into his usual "I stalk you because I care" behavior. And there's dancing! That's so sweet.

I couldn't resist giving Cuddy at least a small chance at a sweet romance. I'm glad you enjoyed it, too :-)

Yes! I miss Henry. I wanted him hired as the administrator for the Diagnostics department. He could have helpd with the DDXs and kept all the paperwork up-to-date (which would have let Cuddy bill insurance companies for House's work and therefore paid for his salary.) And, he could have dealt with House far, far better than Foreman does. The only thing he couldn't do would be treat patients.

It makes sense that Cuddy is attracted to Henry. The ability to see things that aren't obvious -- to jump from A to Q with no apparent path in between -- makes for a very intriguing mind. And it's sweet that House cares enough to stalk them. ;)

I miss Henry, too =( That's why I have to write him into fics LOL. That and the fact that while I don't actively ship Cuddy and Henry, I am intrigued by the possibility. I really think Cuddy would be attracted to Henry's intelligence and humor.
