Beta?
This year I signed up for the house_bigbang. I don't know why. You should probably take my insanity as wrote--it'll save a lot of time ;-) I've got my rough draft done (yay me), I've got one beta and now I'd like to find a second beta. So I'm asking you kind people if any of you is crazy enough to volunteer.
Bigbang fics have to be a minimum of 20,000 words. Mine is currently about 20,800. The first draft isn't due until February 15 and the final draft is due March 15, so there's plenty of time for me to do a couple of serious revisions without any of us feeling pressured. That's the plan anyway.
My banger is the third and final chapter in the Nathan 'verse which means it's H/W/Cu threesome, it's kid!fic, and this installment has character death. If any of those things pushes your buttons, you don't want to read let alone beta.
What I'm looking for in a beta right now is not the detail stuff--grammar, punctuation, etc. When I say it's a rough draft, I mean it's ROUGH. In places it's downright choppy, but I'll worry about the polish after I've got the story I want to tell. What I want now is more general feedback. Does the story flow? Which scenes need more explanation and which need to be trimmed or even cut? Are the canon characters recognizable and are the OCs realistic?
If anyone feels they can help me out, give me a shout. You'll have my eternal gratitude...which admittedly isn't worth much in monetary terms but it's something
