Congratulations, you are the first person to ever make me want to read the third book in this trilogy. Of course, I'll need to reread the first two books since it's been over 10 years, but the fact that this book resonated so deeply with you means this is a book and an experience worth having.

YOU SHOULD TOTALLY READ IT THEY ARE AWESOME. Seriously. The third book is far and away the best one. But you definitely would need to reread the first 2 to understand anything that happens. That's what I did... I'd gotten through the first book years ago, and I liked it, but I just never picked up the second one. I reread the first one and read the second two all in a row (my sister has the whole set) and I'm so glad I did.

I loved those books. Your sister gave me the heads up about a particularly beautiful passage in the third book that features marzipan. I actually have a post-it on that page so that I can easily reread it.
