Talk about a slippery road... Research shows that animal cruelty is often the marijuana of violent criminal behavior. (as in, it's the gateway to a lot worse things)

Except it doesn't. For instance, if you are a bigoted business owner. Let's say that you have some narrow minded belief that women can't do a particular job, and you've established business policies around your narrow minded belief. A good example would be operating heavy equipment. Maybe you're worried that you couldn't live with yourself if a female bulldozer operator got hurt on your payroll? The why's aren't really important. My point is that the law doesn't protect your right to be a narrow minded bigot, it does it protect her right to operate a bulldozer.
