This is the kind of situation that cracks me up, with John McCain's straight-talk express getting a tad derailed. There are these horribly hilarious times when he gets asked something and either A) flips out, or B) tells reporters that he'll have his staffers get back to them on questions that he should clearly know

Obama IS an arrogant elitist who's out of touch with regular people.

Now, that's not true at all. True, ALL national politicians are somewhat out of touch with regular people, but compared to every presidential candidate in recent memory, he is the most in touch with the average Joe. This is the thing that gets me about the McCain approach to attacking Obama. If you listen to the propaganda, Obama is either a crazy arrogant elitist who hasn't even spoken to a regular person in the past 20 years, or he's an inexperienced outsider whose only work has come with helping poor people in Chicago. It's a contradictory depiction--either he's an out-of-touch elitist, or his only experience is in dealing with poverty on the ground level. As much as he'd like to, Johnny Mac can't have it both ways
