A short vacation.

So I took an early vacation this year.

A week was far too short, but it was good to go back.

Ixtlan del Rio, Nayarit.

And this is my aunt's house.

Everything is so full of color there. The walls that are not this color are a bright yellow.

My mom and aunt share a love of pretty plants.

Most of them have tiny flowers.

This is what the weather was like.

And, of course, the first thing my mom wants to do is to visit the cemetery.

I don't know what to say about this one. Just looked interesting.

Back at the house, my uncle showed me an old wasp nest. I got pretty close then saw a wasp inside and booked it. You don't want to get bitten by anything in Mexico.

This is my uncle when he was very young.

This is my uncle now. He was the only one who didn't complain when I took pictures of him. He found my digital camera very interesting and kept asking me to take pictures of him doing things.

Like shaping this red hot piece of metal. He might be over 70 years old, but the man can still make an axe.

This is Edwin, my aunt's cat. (That line at the top is from the film scanner at work. I just noticed it and am too lazy to change it.)

Again.

I was amused at how crazy-looking his eyes looked when I used the flash.

In my aunt's kitchen.

I didn't go out every day, but when I did, it was with these ladies. R - L: Lupe, Cristi, and Tere.

We finally got around to climbing this here hill: a monument to our lord and savior.

Mexican dogs are cute too. We saw this one on our hike up.

I took too many pictures of trees and this one of my aunt's feet as she walked.

It's really sad how many of these you see along roads and highways.

The man.

The first picture was taken from on top of the hill. This one is another view.

And another. Even though it wasn't raining, it was so so pretty. (When it rains, everything is GREEN.)

Dunno what all those dealies were, but that's my aunt, front, and my mom, behind her.

There were fire aunts on our way down.

Back at home, my mom pulled this out to fix a sleeve or something. It belonged to my grandma and now it has become the object of my desires.

I was very bored at one point so I took long exposure shots of cars driving past the house.

I'd been sick since before we left, but I got worse there. My last two days in Mexico I didn't go out much and generally looked like that.

Some "highights" include:
-An ATM taking and destroying my ATM card really early on.
-Neglecting to bring more than one Harry Potter book and thus having to read the one i did bring twice. Prisoner of Azkaban, by the way.
-Bringing the wrong yarn for Stacey's scarf.
-My mom not having a Passport. If she can't manage to get one while she's there, they won't let her come back. I don't think she would mind that too much.

But: so much good food, so many family members I hadn't seen in years, two new Mexican shirts, getting there and back safely.

I have still not unpacked.

My mom is still there which means that from now until May 7, I am pretty free.

The possibilities are endless.
