Anna's gone home.

[Private to Castiel]

Where the hell are you?

[He figures if anyone gets this, it's Cas since the angel always seemed to be the third person in the relationship Dean and Anna had. Not in a Penthouse way, in a weird, freaky, angel way ( Read more... )

[ Castiel appears, that old tell-tale flutter of feathers announcing his arrival. He almost doesn't want to be here, actually. He knows what went on between Anna and Dean, and he knew the moment Anna ceased to exist in the City. He knows what she's gone home to (even if only briefly) and that a lot of it is his fault. Revisiting all of that isn't going to make any of this any better.

To Dean, he's missing a friend. For Castiel, the hole Anna has left behind is much, much larger. ]

She could come back.

[Dean doesn't look back at Castiel when he appears, just takes another sip of his whiskey then passes the bottle back]

Yeah. She could.

[And she could come back avenging angel who wants to kill him and Sam both. He figures either way, he's screwed.]

[ He's not sure what to do with that. Except stand there kind of dumbly, which is maybe his forte. Of course there's that same pressing feeling that Dean is clearly also having that's maybe a little bit at war with the fact that Castiel wouldn't really care how Anna returned. Avenging angel, human, post-death? He'd take anything to have one of his own around, especially Anna.

No one else seemed able to understand him the way that she did. Fortunately, Dean and Sam were close enough to provide comfort, and for Castiel, looking after others seemed to stave off that awkward empty feeling he was having a hard time dealing with, anyway. ]

We had more time than we should have.

[ Oh yeah, he's profound. Castiel knows it's a paltry offering of empathy, and so he moves to sit next to Dean and hands the bottle back over. ]

Though I suppose that's little comfort.

[Dean takes a long swig of whiskey then holds the bottle loosely in both hands. It gives him something to do]

Yeah. Not really feeling warm and fuzzy over that one.
