The disaster, it seems to me, is the failure of a philosophy. A philosophy of small government, tax cuts, deficits and privatization. The federal government should have arrived sooner but the federal government was doing other things.i've been thinking for a few days that this whole Katrina disaster might finally put me squarely in the Democratic

You know, as liberal minded as I am, I hate the two party system. I think it is so constraining. I know, so many activists like myself need the Democrats, but they don't need us.. the activists.
All I know is that this two party system is keeping a lot of the "real" people I'd like to vote for out of contension.

i'm totally with you on that one. i've always been leaning toward the Democrats, but in the end i like voting for who i think would be best. and with Kerry...to be honest, i didn't think he'd win from the start. but, of course, the only other big name party had Bush as their candidate, so Kerry it was.
i wish i was old enough for the 2000 election. i would have LOVED to vote for Al Gore - look what he's doing! i went to see him and Alexandra Kerry speak at a dem rally here right before the 2004 election, and it made me so sad he wasn't president. i mean, think about how much better off we'd be...
