After a short, but interesting family reunion in Austin (look how freakin’ adorable my cousin is!)..
..I flew from St. Louis to meet Dominic and Ashley...
..in Chicago.
We went to Lollapalooza, where we saw such acts as Sleater-Kinney..
..and Wilco.
(Also,
Iron & Wine,
The Flaming Lips,
Sparta,
Nickel Creek,
The Shins, and, from a very great distance,
Red Hot Chili Peppers.)
We also went to the Sears Tower.
We left Chicago Monday afternoon and drove through the night, through Iowa and Nebraska and Wyoming...
..until we arrived in Colorado.
We stayed in Steamboat Springs for a night, before moving on, through Utah..
..where we saw faraway storms..
..sheep..
..and four states at a crossroads.
After making a pit stop in Arizona to looks at an abandoned building, house, and gas station...
..we ended up in Needles, California, where we spent a night.
From Needles, we drove up through the entirety of southern California..
..until we were in San Fransisco, where Megan joined us.
On one very fortunate night, Ashley, Megan and I saw Mates of State..
..and Spoon.
We also met Britt Daniel, of Spoon...
..and his good friend John Vanderslice.
A few days later we were on our way north, through the Redwoods.
Soon we were in Portland, where we hung out by Mexican food trailers..
..took pictures of eachother taking pictures..
..and generally acted like idiots.
The end of our journey brought us to Seattle (pronounced SEAt-tle, only by me), home of space needles..
..modern architecture..
..aaaand these things.
Did I mention that I saw Ani DiFranco in Redmond, Washington? 'Cause...yeah, I did.
♥ her.
