I've loved better shows and I've loved shows better, but I've NEVER had an experience quite like my time in Office fandom, and I likely never will. THIS SAYS IT BETTER THAN I COULD:
i liked the finale. especially the last like 10 minutes. i'm not even going to say anything mean about jim. this show was a big part of me for a long time. glad we're pals because of it. hello.
You Should Add Me Because: Your life would be incomplete with out me. Fact.
APPARENTLY YOU WERE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE CLOWN HOUSE HAS BEEN SOLD AND ITS SPIRIT HAS BEEN EXORCISED AND THE SHOW ADMITTED THAT JIM WAS A DICK ABOUT A LOT OF THINGS SO I'M BASICALLY JUST FORGIVING EVERYONE FOR EVERYTHING. They did some fine work with that finale.
THAT'S A SCARY AMOUNT OF POWER FOR KENDRA TO WIELD, EVEN IF SHE CAN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING WITH IT. but yeah, the fandom experience for this show was something else, that's for sure, and because it was in the LJ heyday it'll never be replicated again, even if all of the other elements were there. WHAT A TIME.
I MEAN, SHE ALSO USED IT TO GET ME INTO TWILIGHT. SHE'S DONE SOME DAMAGE IN HER TIME.
I've been thinking about how The Office's fandom was the perfect size, like...small enough that you could know just about everything that was going on, but big enough that you could have FACTIONS THAT HATED EACH OTHER AND OCCASIONALLY WENT TO BATTLE.
-The MTT moms insisting that they didn't hate slash because they thought it was icky, they hated it because it was OUT OF CHARACTER -NEJ NEJ NEJ NEJ NEJ NEJ NEJ -That one author who flounced from MTT because she never got ribbons -When the fandom was introduced to RPF with a bait and switch fic that labeled itself Jim/Pam and only used pronouns until the very end -Pam's art not being as good as Hitler's -That time someone got Madge from the warehouse to read your fic -Someone looking up John Krasinski's parents in the phone book and calling them -Girly-Girl Truth or Dare -SQUIRREL MCPANTS -The sullen undercurrent of "Pam's getting a little TOO fancy and new, if you ask me!" -girl7's SERIES OF NOVEL-LENGTH STORIES examining what Jim and Pam [AND JONATHAN, ALWAYS JONATHAN] were thinking during every single goddamn scene they ever had together -THAT STORY WITH BARRY WHITE'S GHOST OR WHATEVER?
THESE EXPERIENCES BONDED US FOREVER. Nobody knows the trouble we've seen.
That chart is AMAZING!!! And mine would probably look similar because The Office started it all. And yes, the finale was perfect and I owe this show so much.
I'm not going to miss the show, since I've been waiting for it to end for YEARS, but wow, do I miss how much fun it was to love it. ANDY WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE GOOD OLD DAYS!

Though really, I think you should be concerned about the degree of influence Kendra seems to wield. Absolute power, etc.
