EXCITED mostly bc our stories seem v different even though we shared a lot of mutual friends before ~formerly meeting~ and i find that super interesting.

IT ALL STARTS ON OCTOBER 2, 2000: In advance of our class camping trip to Maine, there is a frenzy of dealmaking as everyone tries to secure a good seatmate for the three hour bus ride. Julia K and I agree that I will watch the S2 premiere of Roswell, her favorite show, and we will discuss it on the bus ride the next day.

Then we spent a year constantly talking about it and annoying the bejeeze out of everyone we knew trying to get them to watch it and reading fansites and looking for spoilers and discovering fic [this was the first fic I ever read! Julia told me about it during Pre-Algebra class!] and so on and so forth. THEN the next fall I was doing my probably-daily check of Crashdown and saw this [HAHAHA OH MY GOD HE WAS ONLY TURNING 23. I'M SO OLD. I'M SO OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!] and registered for the forums so I could post in his thread, and that ended up actually being Fan Forum, which ended up being a thing for me for...IDK, probably the next three or four years? YES AND NO. I miss my Walmart benefits, which is a HILARIOUS COSMIC JOKE because everything I've ever heard on the news or in thinkpieces or anywhere tells me they were TERRIBLE but uh, also, that's the only job I've ever had that's given me benefits. My current job hired me and B simultaneously rather than hiring one person full time and giving them benefits. GOD. HEALTH INSURANCE.DENTAL!!!!!!!!!!!! 401K. STOCK PURCHASING PLAN. PAID SICK TIME. PAID VACATION TIME. PAID PERSONAL TIME. ALSO I really did love working there because I was SO GODDAMN GOOD AT IT and it wouldn't have been possible for me not to love something so consistently challenging where my awesomeness was so thoroughly respected, and there's no denying that I really came into my own there and that I have a lot of confidence in my abilities that I wouldn't otherwise have. I mean, when I quit it was with the understanding that I might want to go back one day and go directly into the management program. The first movie I remember seeing in theaters was the 1992 re-release of Pinocchio. First album.............I DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW? My first half dozen or so were all gifts [Spice was definitely the first album I owned], so I don't really remember what I first bought for myself.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Season 3 of The Office and Season 2 of Alias? MAYBE? PROBABLY. MAYBE.

I'm weirdly not a huge dessert person? [I'M NOT A MONSTER I love ice cream and baked goods and ALL KINDS OF DESSERT-Y THINGS but I'm a picky dessert eater and also somewhere a few birthdays back my body was just like NAH, WE'RE DONE WITH BEING ABLE TO EAT AS MUCH AS WE WANT OF SWEET THINGS, THOSE DAYS ARE BEHIND US NOW, ENJOY NOT BEING ABLE TO FINISH THIS SLICE OF CAKE.] At home: When I have everything I need and don't mind dealing with the blender cleanup I make myself milkshakes from the menu of the cafe where I used to work [favorite: cinnamon + chocolate chip cookies + honey, TASTES LIKE A GRAHAM CRACKER], and if I'm out somewhere...probably ice cream or cheesecake?
