..Well okay maybe I want to join. What's it about?
Although DAR2 was originally founded as a slice of life game taking place between episodes of Yugioh GX, as the series ended, the game has grown and changed into a unique creature, taking elements of the original Yugioh series, Yugioh R, and even Yugioh 5Ds. Also as more people joined there became as much of an emphasis on fun original characters as canon ones. Also a healthy dash of the minds of those who occupy this haunted place.
Are you journal based or community based? I MUST KNOW.
A little of both. Introductions and big events happen on the community, but most things occur on the character journals.
Do you have an OOC community?

Clever. So do I need to learn to play to join and interact?
Absolutely not. Although learning the game and playing it will definitely make it easier to interact, they are by no means necessary.

Wait, some cards can't be used?
That's right. Since we implement elements of every series, cards that are one of a kind in canon, or very very rare, are as such in the game. Cards like Edo Phoenix's Destiny Heroes, or the Five Dragons, are reserved (mostly) to their canon users. Well, I know how to play the game now. So uh.. how do I play the game?
I'm assuming you are asking how do we play with each other online. We use Yugioh Virtual Desktop. Which you can get http://www.xerocreative.com/index.php?goto=downloads here. We use it to keep track of the cards and our decks, then roleplay out the duel via IRC. Most events requiring considerable action, like duels or other events, happen on IRC. You can get the most recent .set, with all the latest and greatest cards, from the topic of our chatroom.
Do you guys have logs? Most games have logs.
We have event posts. Which are sort of like logs but take less time and involve less flowery prose. For most events we use IRC, on the grounds dueling via Livejournal post just isn't really viable.
Wait! Some people have cards that don't seem to exist anywhere! That's not fair!
While that is debatable, those are cards made with our CAC (Create-A-Card) system. One of the biggest themes of Yugioh is each character's deck having an asthetic or style that fits with the character, and is relatively unique. Sadly, many deck types which would be perfect for many interesting characters don't have the proper support to be viable in any real sense. So you can create your own cards to fix that! But more on that later.
I'm ready to app! But uh, first... How mature are you guys? sometimes I have.. urges.
Just mark your urges and make sure all of them exist behind a cut or in your threads, we we'll be golden. Cursing and mild violence don't warrant a cut. Extreme violence and explicit material. Cut it.
Well okay. But now that I know about that, who should I app?
Well, I don't know. We accept YGO characters, Original characters, or Multi-Fandom applications (Characters from non-yugioh properties.). Multi-fandom characters can either be adapted to fit the world of the game, or a straight crossover. Beware, we will be much harsher judging direct crossovers!
Wow. Your app is really short. Most games have much larger apps. Are you guys all illiterate?
WHAT, no! Only half of us! And also, our app is short because we have a different philisophy from many games. We don't believe in the huge multiple page applications for characters. Original characters, especially in the Yugioh Universe, might not have had a particular thrilling past, so we don't require massive amounts of backstory. And although we COULD require the summary of entire series for canon or multi-fandom characters, we are aware many people just copy and paste from series wikis, so we don't see the point.
"PB or Description". What's a PB?
A PB is short for "Played By". While it'd be great if everyone had totally sweet unique icons for their characters, the sad truth is not everyone can draw. So we allow the character to be represented by a pre-existing character, be it from TV, a game, comics, manga and anime, a cartoon, or what have you.

Make a character journal, join the community, intro post, and get interacting, interaction Jimmy.
Oh man, my character is really pissing people off. Should I worry about them getting offed?
No. Violence, alterations to the character's mind, encounters with badguys or things like that occur on an entirely voluntary basis. Although abuse of this rule may lead to disciplinary action. (Don't have your character be a confrontational jerk and demand they remain pristine and untouched, for example.)
You have bad guys?
Yes! Well, sometimes. We have plots, thought up by the mod team, or a player with the consent of the mod team, and sometimes they involve direct conflict with an opposing force, a problem, or just a funny circumstance we think might be enjoyed. Participation in them is always optional, but sometimes they tend to envelop the game world and be very hard to reasonablY ignore.
Oh. People seem to talk about 'duel spirits' a lot. What's that all about?

Well, at a point, our canon differed from that of the show, simply because the material presented by canon wasn't viable for the game.

It's simple! Design some cards, put them on a stickied post on the character's journal, and email the link to the mods. Or give it to us on IRC. We'll either approve them, and you'll be ready to go, or we'll help you edit them.
