Exalted

I've written some background for an exalted character I'm about to start playing. It's the longest background I've ever written for a character, I certainly didn't think it would be this long when I started. I've posted it because I'm quite pleased with it, it's probably the best thing I've written, or at least bits of it are. People familiar with

Nice piece of writing. However I find that I am a bit puzzled as to the narrator's motivation throughout all of this. There are some extremely bold actions that he takes throughout the story, and places where he turns aside from mystery elsewhere.

Told to a character who is mostly concerned with conservation, the impression taken away might be one of a fey or flighty individual given to seeking out or causing trouble and always fleeing from the consequences. Is this intentional?
