Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler. Suits you perfectly if he were American.

But for an American author, I would suggest .gah, this is just as hard for me as it is you to think of someone who doesn't suck.

A"parent"ly they came through the window. Get it? Parents, like, ohmygod, my parents are dead, whine whine.

Where's the party at? I agree, interesting bus ride, and those last two thoughts only touch the surface of that iceburg, hmm?

You could always do Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. However, it is kinda long.

Don't do Moby Dick you stupid son of a bitch. Why don't you put your dick under a guillotine insteady? Moby Dick is the only book I've ever conciously started reading and said "FUCK THIS, I QUIT." Seriously. It's not worth it.

Rabbit Run by Updike is a good one. Any Kerouac book, esp. On the Road and Dharma Bums. Any Steinbeck. Any Hemingway. Salinger. Heller. Bukowski.

Oh come now. I started reading it just for the Hell of it and it's not so bad. A bit long-winded at times, but so are most of Tom Clancy's books and I read the shit out of those.

You think he's long-winded in the beginning? 90 pages into it, he gets off on a 50 page discourse about whales and how they're taught in North American schools.

Please, trust me on this one.
