It makes me sad that people are only capable nowadays of communicating with 140 twitter characters or some random pic or gif with Tumblr. They can't even write a full sentence any longer. Why don't people want to have conversations with each other and actually talk like we do here on LJ?
I do wonder why so many people have left LJ. I freely confess to being a tumblr addict, but it's just because it's such a convenient way to quickly scroll through beautiful pictures and gifs (mostly of gorgeous men, I'll be honest, but other things too!). It's a lovely way to spend the time while I eat lunch at my desk. But I rarely see text posts and when I do they tend not to be of interest to me. I'm pretty sure the average age on tumblr is less than 20! But I don't see that it's used for real conversations, and I really don't understand people who use tumblr as their blog or as a substitute for LJ. It's all very one-sided, and you're right - no one *talks* over there. Maybe that's why I've been missing LJ so much lately, and have vowed to try to come back here on a more regular basis.
I never posted a lot on LJ or had more than a handful of LJ friends. But I do miss it and have decided I'm not ready to give it up yet! So I'm going to try my best to post more often...even if it is just to myself!
