I've been reading the bbc news online.. There's a little article on Bush and his gay marriage policies that invites comments. There are a few (of the against gay marriage sort, of course) that got my attention - or rather, made me breathe out slowly so at to maintain composure.
A few choice comments, both for and against Bush's policy:
I am not gay, and would never considering being gay but outlawing gay marriage is a heinous travesty. It is a gay couple decision if they want to get married not the decision of Mr Bush. What's Bush's policy of imposing 'freedom' on others coming to if he outlaws freedom in his own country

$140m to promote a clearly unconstitutional idea is a waste of money to say the least. Common law marriages are recognized by the courts, and the courts recognize the rights of Gay and Lesbian couples in all areas but this one. If you really want to strengthen the sanctity of marriage, outlaw divorce!

I think President Bush's views on gay marriage are a mirror of the Bible's teaching that homosexuality is wrong. This country's constitution was built with the Bible as a foundation. I believe that we, as a nation, would be much better off to stick to what made this country great, and that is a set of laws that is built on religious freedom, but mentions God in a Christian light. I know there are gay men and women that pay taxes too, but I don't believe that President Bush should bend his own morals and beliefs, to keep a small minority of sinners happy.

I think it is an extremely good idea to outlaw gay marriage. How can two people of the same sex be married? They cannot have children naturally!!
