Setting: Dug was raised in the deepest depths of South America, on the Derigible: Spirit of Adventure. The ship was filled with the wonders of the modern world of the 1940's. Equipped with everything from ice-boxes to electrical tread-mill-walkers, Dug and the rest of the pack enjoyed the finest comforts a dog could want for.
Unlike other dogs, Dug and the pack received electrical dog collars that were capable of tracking their movements, recording and sending video, and translating their thoughts to allow speech (occasionally in multiple languages, if the controls are fiddled with). The Dogs, themselves, utilize their collars for communication while outside of the airship. Dug particularly enjoys the little blinky light on his collar, but it only goes off when he is not attempting to watch it.
Outside of the ship, it is the year 2009, though Dug does not know what that means. The pack is used to trees, and rocks, and more rocks, and trees you can chew on. Occasionally there are mailmen or balls. Ultimately, Dug has no concept of time or technology. He is a dog.
Personality: Dug is a golden retriever, and very excitable. He is not, however, very smart or very skilled, but the latter is often ignored due to the former. He is very enthusiastic about his job (He will get his master the bird.), and will do everything in his meager power to make his master happy.
He is very easily distracted, however, and has very little physical prowess to speak of. He harbors a flighty, childlike glee with nearly everything and an inexplicable hatred of Squirrels.
Abilities and Weaknesses:
Dug is a good tracker, but not so good as a retriever. Unless, of course, it is a ball. He is very good at bringing back balls, and is convinced the same is true of birds. He is terrible at being quiet, and often forgets what he is doing, but enthusiasm counts for something.
Inventory: One dog collar with a tracking device, small monitor, blinky red light, and translator with multiple linguistic settings.
Appearance: Dug may be a golden retriever, but he is relatively short and stout when compared to the rest of his breed.
Age: Dug is not sure, mostly because he can't seem to remember anything for more than a few minutes. He is probably between 1-5 years.

Samples ;
Log Sample:
There was a shiny thing around that corner. It was shining, and it moved. Dug was very still as he watched it, that shining thing that was moving before but not moving now.
"Hey, you. I see you there."
The shining thing had been warned.
Dug hunkered back as he watched it move and shifted on his paws. It moved again and Dug leaped, jumped and landed right on top of it. He pressed his face into the shining thing, tried to figure out what shiny smelled like, but to no avail. The shiny thing was gone.
Dug sniffed in a circle but couldn't find it. After a moment, he let out a huff of air and sat down. A little while passed. His leg itched so he chewed on it.
He should look for the bird. He stood up and started looking for the bird.
This place was weird. Lots of metal and rubble. No trees or balls. Lots of dirt, though. It smelled weird.
"Bird. Are you here?"
The bird did not answer. It was a clever bird.
Network Sample:
[The video comes on and shows, at first, the amorphous and questionable interior of a mouth. After a moment the mouth pulls away and there's a big black nose in the camera. Another moment goes by and it backs up and there's a dog.]
You are not a delicious collar, shiny metal collar.
[It blinks, as if it has just noticed something of importance, and claws at the camera.]
You are very shiny. You also make noises.
[The dog seems very serious for a moment, it goes still and stares at the camera, almost directly. This is purely accident, however, as it immediately looks away and lets its tongue loll out of its mouth.]
I like you.
