Title: The Nature of My Game
Words: 28,000
Rating/Warnings: NC-17, cop-show-level action/violence, minor character death, minor mentions of het (minor characters)
Summary: Jensen is a desk jockey in the Bureau of Organized Crime (B.O.C.), building a case on mob boss James Patrick Stuart with the help of undercover officer Danneel Harris, a surveillance team in the field, and a few confidential informants. Jared is the narcotics officer that impedes the operation with an interest in one of Stuart's new associates and worms his way under Jensen's skin after what could've been just a one-night stand.

With a host of police officers on Stuart's payroll, Jensen's doing his best to keep B.O.C.'s operation under wraps to see it through to the very end. A possibly messy, violent end.

Notes: Written for spn_reversebang as a pinch hit to sweet_lyri's gorgeous and edgy cop-themed banner, which became the main banner. I loved the piece as soon as I saw it in the first round of claims, but couldn't participate as an artist ... once it was up for a second chance, however, I was able -- and happy to -- snag it. Thank you so much to sweet_lyri for being so nice and kind while working through all this even as I missed every internal deadline I promised you :D

Huge thanks to the few randoms who sifted through the file at various points and/or brainstormed with me (tebtosca, cleflink, rozearkana), and zubeneschamali for the late-night beta.

The story is set in what became a giant mix of characteristics from different metropolitan cities. Some locations are Chicago references, I imagined South Boston as the troubled area where all the bad guys grew up, and the descriptions of the chest bars come from NYC.
