I generally find it's not worth the time or energy to ask people why they've suddenly decided they dislike me, why they've unfriended me from Facebook or LiveJournal etc., or just act cold towards me without explanation, or never even gave me the time of day in the first place. To some extent, it's because I know I'm just going to get a long angry

Wow, rants and lectures? I find that bizarre. I think that people who do that kind of thing must have serious problems of their own. Friends should be supportive and helpful, not using you as a punching bag! Weird.
