Bought myself an MP3 player last weekend (b/day present to myself). A Sony NW-A3000 in silver. Took me a while to find one as they have been replaced by an updated model, but managed to find one in a shop that hadn't been used, just old stock, only thing was it didn't have the data transfer cable with it. That must be where I got the name from then, knew I'd seen it in somebodys journal. Cheers :o)

It does charge off the USB but the cradle also has a charge only cable, which is the one that came with it. It does have a port for the data cable as well.

got a link to the cradle? surprised its only for charging it...

the data cables are about £25 buy it now, but there have been some auctions where it has sold for a much more reasonable price.

I have a data cable you could borrow if you are desperate, but i would need it back within a day or two, as i use my player most days at work.

and get rid of the crappy sonicstage software. use ml_sony or any of the other alternatives on the atraclife colloquium website. ive got instructions on poptunes.org about hacking it (but the site seems to be down right now, hopefully its just a glitch. i need to collar russ to find out what the score is)

any queries/etc, give us a prod. the nw-a3000 is a *lovely* bit of kit, its just marred by nonstandard usb cables and shit software....

No link, might try and find one, it's a genuine Sony item though.

Thanks for the offer, might take you up on that one, going to see if I can get one this week.

What software would you recommend then, need to be idiot proof though. Volume hack already done.

That's my project this week, I've got a NW-S205F, and while it's a lovely unit it's a complete fucking ballache to use SonicStage. WHY didn't Sony just make it a flash player. Bastards.

This is the one I am looking at, was just a bit dubious about buying from the Usa, but at the end of the day a tenner is a tenner...
