I got around it by not having dancing. :) We had our reception at the Montshire Museum instead, and hired a chamber trio to play in the corner.

I've been listening to the Underworld soundtrack right now, but am guessing that REV 22:20 would not be appropriate. ;)

Well, what kind of dance are you going to do? We did a swing dance, so our criterion was "a swing song that isn't too long." I think ours was called "Three O'Clock Jump," but I wouldn't swear to it.

If you just want a sway-back-and-forth slow dance, I've always thought "Somebody" by Depeche Mode would make a great first dance for the slightly irreverent. And I love that song.

I think my first dance was probably to one of the songs on the animated Robin Hood movie record. Yes, record, I have it on vinyl where it sits amngst other treasured records that my father had when he was in college. I used to listen to _my_ first record all the time. I'm certain it was my first dance song, I could sing all of the songs on it and annoyed my parents playing them over and over again.

Though that may not be what you meant for you "event." :)

Heh. I recall this was a matter of contention for me and Mrs. shmike. Music, being as important to me is it is (though probably much differently than it is for most), I wanted to find something that was heavily meaningful for the both of us ( ... )
