In September 1999, Chris Partin floated the idea of a new fanfic group called Avengers 2015, and after a quick discussion with Barry Reese who was launching his new group Avengers 2000, the new group became Marvel 2015. Soon came the overview of the years between 1999 and 2015, and it was quickly followed by Avengers 2015 #0. Over the next few

The reach of Barry Reese is far and wide after all...

I'm not trying to slight the stories that have appeared at Marvel 2015, for the very most part they have been very good, I just think it's an odd choice to make.

It was agreed upon by all concerned that jumpstarting the imprint and setting it in 2079 would give the writers more arm and leg room to do what they do best.
If 2015/2079 were "struggling to attract enthusiam" as you put it would the staff of Avnegers2000 have put over six months of effort into relaunching the imprint when we could all have been doing something else we felt was more important with our time and talent?

But yes I do think you would have spent time and talent relaunching it, things always seem brilliant in idea but quite often when put out into the world wide web they fail to make the impact they deserve. Just look at Omniverse which should have been a fantastic success but for some reason never reached the heights it should have done.
I sincerely hope that Marvel 2079 is a success after all the work that has gone into it but in a hobby that seems to shun the innovative, will its future universe be able to make its mark?
I hope I am proved wrong but the cynic in me doesn't think so.

Nocturnes, I will freely admit, is what brought me around to writing heavy mystery/suspense. I had never attempted it before, and Nocturnes was this huge blast of fresh air. It was, by and large, responsible for things like Backwater (at Vertigo: Subculture) and Missing Persons (at Frontier).
2015 is also my first "creator-owned" style work. ShadowWalker and Fantastic Four both have small bits of creator-owned, while Nocturnes was all-out. That, in itself, helped break the mold for me when it came to how I approached fiction in general.
So yeah, 2015 has a big place in my memory.
