ruthie, you are a very smart person.
this made me think a lot, and i love it.
i agree with you on many points especially what you said about katrina and our free will, etc.
and also, i think we are all connected-- everything in the universe-- because we are all part of god, whether we accept him or not.
you know, god is everything or what have you.

yay. thankyou!
i accept that god is in everything, well b/c he made it all and a part of him is in all of us, giving us a chance to be really awesomely-kind or really savagely mean sometimes. we all have good and evil inside of us and all. the reason i can't think maybe i could become a part of god is b/c i think of him as a person more than a place like the universe, even though he can really be both. and it seems like i would be contaminating him with all of my dirty thoughts [oh no!]. however, i do have a way around it with Jesus saving us and all that stuff. so that's pretty cool. i'm really psyched about death b/c then i get to figure out what really happens and just being with God seems really awesome.

Judaism has a tension between the importance of belief vs. action that looks very weird if you're used to the Christian paradigm ( ... )

I respect and admire the fact that Jews are constantly arguing with themselves over laws and belief's, I think that's good. As a christian, I think we should do more of that because it keeps the religion alive and real.

I think the reason God doesn't reveal himself to everyone beyond a doubt, is because he wants beleiving in him to be by faith. like the verse when one of the desiciples has to see jesus' scars, he's like you believe because you see, blessed are those who do not see and still believe, or something like that. God doesn't want us to be robots or to believe in him because we can see, feel, and touch Him, he wants faith. And y'know, God gets what he wants. As for a personal reason why God hasn't smited or shown a burning bush or "revealed Himself" to you personally, that's between you and GOd.

Replying to myself to say, I didn't mean that to sound quite as harsh as it does. If faith works for you in some way, I would never tell you that you shouldn't have it or must discard it. But I'm just not wired that way, and I find more than enough wonder and mystery in the observable universe and my limited understanding of it.

Do you believe in divine intervention or do you tend to feel like that god made the world and sits back and watches us?

I would say Im spiritual but i dont believe in god.

Spirituality should be attained through meditation, self exploration, and reflection.

I feel that god is just a word that humans created to give a tangible label to identify something that is far beyond the scope of homo sapien intellectual capacity.

Also, throughout history the notion of god has been abused by various individuals to achieve malicious agendas.

However, having faith is what propels many people aroud the world to keep on living, fighting, and hoping. Thats a good thing.

I'm not really worried about death or what happens in the afterlife. It never bothered me because Im a devout of carpe diem. Sieze the day, live each day like its the last.

Theres that saying that goes something like "Count your happy hours on earth", and i feel since life is just so short, each and every moment should be one's happy hour (with the drinks).

No it doesnt really affect me.

I dont agree with the conventional sense of god.

I dont really even believe in a God, its just a term that condenses spirtuality and makes it digestable for our mind.

Its so much easier just to worship one entity.

The idea of God was created to facilitate worship.

Besides, to be religious and spiritual is two different things.
