I think love is something like jumping into an ice cold pool in July. Hand in hand promising we'd jump together, but we hit the water alone regardless. There's always a coldness you bare alone despite a palm pressed to yours.
Shh...don't tell anyone but I use to be the giggling girl that always let go at the last minute.

if your hands are truely dedicated to holding on to each other's they will not let go ...
but other than that i agree because ...
like you said there is usually someone that breaks the promise and lets go before hitting the water, if they're not ready/mature/truly in love for it ...
leaving the other person freezing cold and pissed off in the water ...
alone.
and like you're the one that used to let go and stay dry ... i'm usually the one that gets screwed over in the water.
and you learn from each time you experience it ... you lose more and more trust the more times that person lets go of your hand when you made that promise to jump into the pool together, until there is no trust left and the game is over or (on a happier note) they become more mature and want to go through that freezing cold water with you just for you and just for wanting to go through everything with you ... never letting go.
