Too darkeness here. Duplicate the layer and set the new one to screen 100%.
Ok, what's the problem now? The icon is completely washed out.
My suggestion is to play with Levels to increase contrast.
Layer --> New Adjustment Layer --> Levels.

We're gonna increase Red with selective colors, but remember to look at your picture and find out what the image really needs.
