some people (such as happily married couples) find it more convenient not to have multiple accounts. And especially when they have a very young child, they can't both be at the library using the internet. And some people find livejournal confusing - that's nothing to count against them. Some just aren't computer savvy. The only reason I know all that I know about computers is because that is what I chose to spend my time learning as a child, so now as an adult I have those skills, where others, who chose other paths, may not.
The system you and Thy have on Gaia isn't really what I was getting at--I guess I was unclear. I count that under "group creative endeavers," because you have one account for the purposes of each posting, your account is even a portmanteau of your names.
What annoys me is when someone posts on their SO's account because they're lazy, or because they think no one's paying attention to their own account, or because they never had an account but they just want to say this one thing which turned into a whole long thing under the other person's screen name. That's where it just gets silly.
And you would be exempt anyway because I <3 you. :D

Why?

So the parent that's on child-watching duty writes up a post for their SO to put online on SO's journal while SO is at the library? No.

No, but I don't know how borrowing an SO's account makes LJ less confusing?
