Is it my imagination or have writers been especially quiet lately? All the boards I visit are calm as frozen water. My critique group that has always been excessively chatty and busy is all but dead. I find it very discouraging and depressing. I know publishing houses don't do much in August, but I have never seen anything like this in several

I think many of the writers are teachers.. so they are getting back into new schedules.
And I think most of the writers are parents.. so they are getting little peeps ready for school.
AND, I think the publishing houses have been quiet!

I am just waiting...waiting...waiting and polishing...polishing...polishing. Not very exciting stuff. It seemed to me things were quiet for a few months this spring then there was a string of "good news" on Verla's then more quiet. I am feeling discouraged with all the quiet, too. I suppose it will pick up soon for both of us. Hang in there!

It's been a hard August...my face-to-face crit partner has been swamped with work, and we've barely gotten to meet...one of my online crit groups is struggling -- and I've had two migraines in under three weeks -- yuck!! Let's hope Sept brings in something new and wonderful.
