The Palin VP choice is interesting. A woman so unheard of that when I saw the headline "McCain chooses Palin as VP," my first thought was "But Michael Palin's British." That's right. I couldn't think of a single American off the top of my head, politician or otherwise, with that last name. That's how out of left field this choice is

Y'know, that's probably exactly it.

Though, from the looks of her, you could remove the "r" from pretty and still be accurate. She has lots of fun scandals for the national media to exploit.
