Disc of Tron could be my favorite arcade game (and both TRON uprights had the best console design, as you noted). The Atari Jaguar had a fantastic 90s update of Tempest...arguably the best game in the Jaguar's limited library.

I LOVED qix - are there any qix-like games out there?

Great photo. I think the filter helps in this case to kind of give it a Tron-like quality.

Are you the little pale kid running around with a pocketful of quarters?

Thanks, I thought so too... usually I hesitate to use Photoshop filters, but I think the cheese factor works with the subject matter :)

Oh, and yes, I was the fat pale little kid. Maybe someday I'll post a photo...it will get great laughs, I'm sure.

I never said you were fat, only pale.

Did your arcade have a new smell all the time? Games were always being rotated in and out in the ones I went to, and there was always this new smell with the new games...pretty cool. I miss those days. Kids today don't have SHIT on us.

I don't really remember the smell of the arcades.. maybe an electronic / ozone smell? Perhaps a little musty because I doubt the carpet was ever cleaned.

God, I spent so much time in arcades when I was a kid.

I loved all those above (except I never was a big Mr. Do fan). I also loved Phoenix, which a lot of people don't even seem to remember because it came out right before the craze hit big with Pac Man.

I do remember playing Phoenix... it had the big mother ship that you had to chip away at with some sort of creature or power plant in the center that you had to shoot.
