Screw you, CNN.

Okay, what I said before about not voting?  Yeah, I lied.  I sent in my Early Voting Ballot two weeks ago.  I voted straight-ticket Libertarian (Straight-ticket votes are only acceptable for third parties.  If you vote all "R" or all "D" down the line, you're an idiot.  I won't even debate you on how much of an idiot you are, you stooge.) and "no" ( Read more... )

I like to think that these results will be the proper culling and burning of the dumb, corrupt and inneffective members of the Republican party. Too many of them became corrupt. Too many of them entrenched in their own power base and fell away from their core beliefs. They forgot fiscal responsibility. They came to think that governmental activism could solve their issues.

I think we might see a return to core values and it was going to need something like this for them to see that. Personally, if there is ever going to be a viable third party candidate for president, we are going to need a number of of that party in the House and Senate. I think this is critical and fundamental to building what is needed to win a national election.

Yeah, I have to confess that I lean a little more towards the "R" side of the two big parties--at least the non-theocratic end of that side. I'm glad to see some natural selection weeding out the sick and the stupid. Meanwhile, I'll just keep banging my head against that third party brick wall. If someone could just get the ball consistently rolling past that magic 5% of the popular vote, he or she would be a REAL change maverick.

You're such a liar. :)

I don't think any big news organization reported anything on the third party candidates at all last night. I'll confess that I drank my wine too fast and was zonked out by 10:30, but the four hours of coverage I watched before that point never mentioned any of the other candidates.

I really liked Bob Barr. I never vote straight ticket, simply because I don't think any one party fully represents the way I feel. I put a lot of time into choosing the people I voted for. Now I have to go check to see what happened in my own state. We had a consitutional amendment on the line. Michigan has become an economic wasteland, and I think people just want to foget we're here.

I'm not sure how I feel about Bob Barr. His libertarian epiphany seemed a little too convenient to me. But I didn't mind sending a vote his and his party's way, that's for sure ( ... )

They've amended the constitution to allow embrionic stem cell research while making further oversight of it very difficult. While I can understand the motivation, I didn't see the need for it to be written into the constitution. (Plus, I am very wary of anything that lacks proper oversight ( ... )

It sounds like you and I are of like mind on more than a couple of things. It seems like there's more motivation to write these crazy constitutional amendments every election cycle.

But Prohibition was repealed...that, at least, sets a precedent.

Zibacco seems to have disappeared off of the face of Live Journal, so I'm in the process of contacting all of his mutual friends in hopes that someone knows where he's disappeared to, or has the ability to contact someone who knows him in real life that they might be able to find out. He hasn't posted in nearly two months and that has me terribly worried. Any information would be appreciated.
