But I disagree that they did Howard exactly like Tony... I mean, womaniser and brilliant engineer, yes, but with Tony it grates and feels disrespectful (except for Pepper) and with Howard it... doesn't, somehow?

Maybe it *is* the exact same attitude, but what was progressive and felt modern in 194x is less so in 200x

I guess it fits the timeframe, yeah. Womanising bilionaire sort of fits the feeling of that time for me. Plus, you know, Howard seems to have fun doing it, I always felt it was more a game of dominance for Tony -- or movie!Tony at least. Different upbringing maybe?

Man, I wonder if Tony will ever tell Cap all about ass-kicking aunt Peggy. If I still had any kind of muse, that would be an epic, decade-spanning fanfic. I still have my fingers crossed for timey wimey stuff, too :D
