I enjoyed the film as a stand alone work. It definitely struck a chord with me politically.

I don't even mind the differences between it and the graphic novel. The biggest being that the film was more anti-facist than pro-anarchy, which I think the comic was.

It struck that chord with me, too. I'm actually grateful I haven't seen the graphic novel version, I think I would have spent the entire movie comparing differences. I'm glad they went the route they did in the movie, I don't know that I would have responded as well to a pro-anarchy slant.

I very much enjoyed the idea of the growth of inner strength and the power of words. Besides which, V's bedroom looked more than a little like my house, all those books piled everywhere. No wonder I liked it. :D

Yes, I did love that scene too. I love smart characters. In fact, I'm going to go wax enthusiastic over that exact scene with my friend, when I see her on Monday, as she's a spelling/grammar Nazi like me.

I was actually very pleasantly suprised at the subtlety of it. They didn't go quite a few places I was convinced they would go. It was very nice indeed not to drown in expected cheese.
