Can the concept of parallax apply to time as well as space? Technically speaking distance applies to both

My wife & I are very casually considering relocating to New Zealand. I was chasing around LJ users from New Zealand, and ran into your LJ. Dunedin was someplace that caught my eye (in the 30 minutes research I've done so far), and I'm curious to know what you thought about it. We live in New Hampshire right now (Concord), and I'm from here -- how does the area around Dunedin compare to NH? How are the people? I'd appreciate -anything- you can tell me.
