A very good time. The highlight of my W/E was a solo module and the resulting RP with outlawblade and jjmarika. It was some of the most intensive RP I've had in years. It definitely solidified my character for me ( Read more... )

The majority of the creatures we encountered seemed to be able to shrug off the effects of a single spell, and most casters don't have another one until the next shift/watch. A lot of casters were grumpy over it.

Seems like the casters ought to partner up with each other then to tag team and take down creatures. The other way is to have multiple tracks of the same spell.

As for creatures immune to weapons, I learned from A1 that I wanted to be a thug with spells/weapon strikes capable of hurting creatures lik ethat.

It was great to RP with you. I really enjoy our personal dynamic and the team dynamic. Plus to watch you go house when you fight.

Be well.

Partnering up is definetely a sensible solution, but given the limited number of attacks the casters have, they want bigger bang. I don't see the game giving them more damage, as they are already deadly effective against PCs.

I didn't have issue with monsters being immunte to weapons, at least not in the situations where I encountered them at the event.

I have a blast RP'ing with you. We play very well off of one another, especially as you go and say the things Squint feels guilty about even thinking :-). Its just lucky that Squint doesn't enjoy gambling, or we'd really have a hard time keeping the company fed.

That was one other enjoyable aspect of PC'ing... no need to hold back to keep it fun for the PCs, or a need to stay detached from the fighting to keep track of the game mechanics. Of course, I play a character that holds back in fights, but that's part of the fun for me when he gets to cut lose.

I'm back to PC'ing, and plan on staying with it.

Welcome back! It really is a far different mindset from plotting and NPCing. I just wish I could join you in your PCing endeavors, but I fear our PC paths have pretty much taken divergent paths. :-(

Yes. It would rock to RP with you on a PC to PC basis again, it's been years and years.

I wanted a heavy RP game, that ran limited events per year... and since I'm already staffing one of the ones in my genre, I decided to play the other one.

Now you need CP! Come NPC Radiant!

Rumor has it that staffing Madrigal is not without its own CP benefits. I'm just sayin'.

My big problem with trying to NPC Madrigal is:
a. It's a long drive
b. OMG The Pantheon! I'd be so afraid of making an incorrect statement that started a Holy War because I just don't have time to look into the OMG-History that the players already have immersed themselves into.

Now - packets ... that I can do ... lots and lots of packets...

OH GOOD! As you might know by now, tragic_culture was very curious if he'd introduced anything new, much less inspiring, to your venerable LARPing career. Well done on both parts (your history intrigued me).

You cause me to wonder if maybe I play NPCs just as I would PCs -- all balances out, cos as much as I adore my PCs, not that attached to them either so it's OK if I have to die, etc. Food for thought assuming I had any room in my, uh, thought-fridge. Yea!

Well, it's all in how the PC dies for me. If he does something brave, dumb, or both especially if I know it's a brave/dumb thing before doing it, that's part of playing the character. If he dies behind a cabin after bumping into the wrong NPC at the wrong time, that just sucks. It's part of the risk of the game, which is vital to keeping it exciting, but doesn't take away the suck of it.

I detach emotionally from my NPC roleplaying, or more accurately my NPCs reactions are far more contrived than when I'm PC'ing. This doesn't mean that my NPCs don't show emotion or act according to their emotions, they do. It's just that every action my NPC takes is a measured response between their character, the current plotline, player fun levels, and just how much more time to I have to be out here in this role. As a PC on the other hand, I just go with it, consequences be damned... well mostly. :-)

I had a great time RPing with you that night, and with all the stuff that followed. It wasn't until well after it was over that I realized that I (JJ) had never actually roleplayed with you as pretty much any character, ever.

Anyway, had lots of fun. :)

Cool! I had a blast with it. The RP with your character was huge in keeping Squint sane, well sane-lite. It rocked finally getting to RP with you as PCs. I love how deeply our team has gotten into the RP aspects of the game. It reminds me of how NERO used to be, back in the beginning year or two.

Now, we just need to schedule some combat practices!

'Sane-lite' sounds about right. :grins:

And yes, combat practices are a must! Although I have to admit that I loved how we mostly just ignored the entire mess going on in the town in favor of you guys sparring before the duels.

Well, staying out of the mess in town was a very deliberate IG decision for me. It's a big deal for Squint to choose sparring over, well going towards a place that has beer. He just really didn't want to get involved in it, not given his current shaky mental state.

I doubt we'll get much opportunity for sparring between now and the summer lull, but we should make a point of having several sessions over the summer.
