A bad pear is always better than a bad apple. A good pear is always better than a good apple. Therefore, I should eat more pears.

i've never had a pear that was better than a good apple. i think i prefer pears to be cooked in things, like pies or cobblers. raw pears are just too mushy for my tastes. maybe it's just the sorts i've had tho- are there crispy pears??

Don't tell me we have to have another fight! I'm still reeling from the last one.

Now you're suggesting I'm effeminate?!

Aaanyway ... you certainly CAN get crisp pears. But crispness in pears tends to go hand in hand with unripeness. I'm not a fan of pears that are so soft that one bite seems to break their surface tension, leaving you with mush all over your hands and face. Ideally, they should still have SOME substance. It's just that they have to be juicy, too.
