Serenity delayed

The Firefly movie has been pushed back from April to September, the reasoning being the timing of other major releases in April and May which would crush it ( Read more... )

As much sense as it may make to push back, I am still sad at the prospect of waiting a year.

Firefly was one of those shows, in my mind, that exceeded the hype surounding it. Truly excellent.

I remember when Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within came out, they really advertised the shit out of that one. They advertised it so, so much that I lost all desire to see it...and I had a pretty huge amount of desire to see it to begin with. And I know I'm not the only one that felt that way. So maybe advertising the shit out of Serenity wouldn't be the best idea. But advertising it heavily in the right markets would be good, and starting with a trailer before Star Wars would be a perfect idea.

Well, just to clarify, by "advertise the shit out of," I meant as much as possible without driving people nuts. It happened with Episode I and Titanic (after its release), but I really wouldn't expect them to do advertising overkill with this movie, particularly since its budget was so modest to begin with.
