In order to get a scholarship, you have to take the test.

Study the basic requirements for applicants. If you meet them - fine, then move on to the next step - to get acquainted with the list of Dutch participating universities and select the program. You need to be very careful here, the peculiarity of the scholarship is that it applies to a limited number of universities and programs. Please note that you cannot receive the Orange Tulip Scholarship for programs that are not listed in the above sections.

Look through the entire list and decide if there are universities and majors that are right for you. If so, take a close look at what the OTS scholarship covers at the institution you have chosen. This is an important point, as scholarships can vary greatly from university to university.

What does OTS cover?

The Orange Tulip Scholarship brand brings together a large number of very different scholarships in terms of coverage, as each university that participates in OTS determines the amount of scholarship it provides under OTS on its own. Most of them assume partial coverage of the cost of education (about 30 to 80%). There are scholarships that offer 100% tuition coverage. Others only cover part of the cost of living, while tuition is entirely on the student's shoulders. And there are very few grants that cover not only tuition but also living expenses, so that its holder bears a minimal material cost of higher education. A detailed description of the scholarships of each of the universities you will find in the already mentioned section of the Dutch participating universities.

Be very careful, you need to assess whether the funding is sufficient for you, because in addition to the remainder of the tuition fee after the scholarship you need to have some funds for living. You should understand, the rest of the costs that are not covered by the scholarship will have to be borne by the student.

Application and Documents

So, you have found a suitable OTS scholarship for the program you are interested in. What's next? First of all, check what the deadline set by the given university for the application. Most often it is March-April, but there are earlier and later. It is important to understand that the deadline is mandatory and documents received after the deadline are not considered.

To qualify for OTS, you need to be enrolled in the program or at least send your paperwork to the university. Therefore, one of the most important documents in your OTS application will be the university's confirmation of enrollment or receipt of your documents. There are no strict requirements for the form of this confirmation (you can either make a printscreen of the letter from the university, or send a document in a PDF file). The main thing is that the document should be readable, and it should be clear which university and program it is about.

In addition to confirmation, letters of recommendation or CVs are often required to apply for OTS (check the OTS application documents section of the participant's university page for the exact list). This does not mean that you need to re-prepare these documents, you can send the ones you sent to the university for admission.

When submitting the OTS scholarship application, each candidate must prepare a letter of motivation, which must be attached to the application form.

The scholarship application is completed electronically on the application form page. All documents attached to the online application must be scanned and saved in a single pdf file. Once we have reviewed your application and documents, you will receive written confirmation that we have received them and that there is nothing wrong with them. If you have not received confirmation from us within 1-2 business days of sending your documents, please let us know.

Acceptance of applications for the 2020-2021 OTS Scholarship begins November 1, 2019.

Scholarship Selection Results

A decision on the scholarship award is made by the university some time after the application deadline (within a month or less). Students are notified by the university of the results of the scholarship competition. The recipient must then confirm that he or she agrees to attend the university and wishes to take advantage of the scholarship.
