Invasion?? Coup??

About 30 minutes ago, while I was sitting here at my desk, there was a general thudding and rumbling overhead and 5 or 6 US HH53s (Super Jollies, possibly MH-53J Pave Lows....http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/2542523.stm) whirred across from south to north ( Read more... )

Either that, or they're cloning Transformers now (IIRC Blackout was a 53, possibly a Pave Low) ...

s0b reporting seeing a huge black helicopter gunship over London the other day, too, but was less skilled at tech-spotting ... they are apparently based at Mildenhall, though ...

Thanks for the link to the data file!

Aye,

well used to seeing the odd Shitook (Chinook) thrash over, the very occasional Sea King and Pumas used to be fairly regular for Wellington Barracks, but just of late Super Jollies/Pave Lows have been rather too common for my liking.... the 5 or 6 today was the largest formation I've yet seen, though I think pairs have been noted before.

huge black helicopters the Pave Low definitely fits that bill... preying mantis-like would indicate Apache attack choppers and Flying Banana of Doom is the RAF slang for a Shitook... all the rest are just small and buzzy.

The BBC site has many of those useful little datafiles ^_^

And in other aviation news... the Tin Triangle (aka XH558, aka... oh, just look it up!) should have it's first test flight after 15 years of restoration sometime over the next week or so ^__________^

Personally I consider seeing any of them over a city bad news ... they're the closest we've currently got to a manga gunship ... unless someone gives a Hind a black respray ...

Well, that's what I thought, but I've never seen any of those over a city ...

Excellent!

Any more sinister sightings?
All seems a bit quiet for an invasion . . . . coup d'etat maybe

This is the real coup and it is nearly complete: all those black things they are constructing beside major roads and motorways. For traffic info? If everyone's going to have sat nav or similar, their vehicles tracked or even controlled from space, what's the need? What will those things tell you when they are blank?
