Oliverbot

Amusing, but also rather pathetic. A basic understanding of the rules of grammar and some consistency would go a long way toward making a chatbot more believable.

C = Chatbot
M = Me

Oh, I don't know, I got a semi-coherent discussion out of it, but only if I didn't use "chatty" language. We discussed work and friends. It said I was its friend. Aww. :)

Seriously, the poor thing goes in circles quite a lot, ne? It looks like it's picking up on set words, not the overall context - like when you said "wow", and it responded with "I'm glad you're impressed" even though you were insulting it - which I always understood was the hardest part of developing AI.

Edit:
Oliver: My favourite thing is robots.
Moi: I like robots
Oliver: You say that now, but would you want your child to marry one?
*lols*

I tried not to use chatty language, myself, and initially stuck with little things to discuss. I was trying not to consider it just a mindless program until it was becoming too glaringly obvious not to.

I understand that picking up and understanding an entire context can be difficult, but that's probably where it should say that it doesn't know what I'm talking about, or it should specify that I should keep my sentences short and as common as possible. Even then, it seems to have several issues, especially when it feeds my words back to me in a nonsensical fashion.

*lol* Oh, lord. This reminds me of that program called Eliza that was circulating about in the mid 90s. God, that was funny as hell. I was picking it's "brain" (or lack thereof) in all directions and came up with the same stupid, yet amusing crap.

I haven't tried Oliverbot, but I've had a lot of fun with Jabberwacky in the past, and the conversations usually make more sense. :>
