Today's song combines synthesisers, medieval vocal harmonies, and lyrics from Carmina Burana, as you'll probably already know if you've ever heard any QNTAL before. This is in my top five of their songs and if any of that sounds like your thing, then you should already have this, because it comes on like a perfectly-choreographed firework display ( Read more... )

I know you've tried me on QNTAL before, but I gave this a try anyway just in case. <3 I do like the music, but as always I fall down on the vocals - that kind of medieval vocal style almost always hurts my ears, and I'm not sure why.

...I don't suppose they have any instrumental pieces, do they?

Not that I can think of off the top of my head? Sorry :/ This is totally the same song I tried you with before, though, so it couldn't have been expected to work :)

I thought it sounded familiar - it's just different listening to things on my own than listening to them with someone else, and on my own speakers, so I wasn't sure. *hugs* And it's okay, I feel like I should be the one apologising, not you... <3333

Thank you for making me smile just before going home (which I should have done hours ago).

You're very welcome, I'm glad to hear it, although not about how late you were at work :/ Take care of yourself. xx

Love it so much. Thanks for introducing me to some new music which combines two of my loves, synths and medieval vocals.

I'm so glad! Their stuff is brilliant and there's six albums' worth and then their sister band Helium Vola who do much the same thing but with slightly less stompy boots :) Well worth checking out more if you can. Thank you for letting me know you liked it :)

Thanks, I like what QNTAL I've heard

I wasn't aware of the history of Carmina Burana, thanks for that too!

You're welcome :) it's a weird old collection of stuff & while I like the Orff setting very much I find it fascinating to see what other people do with the same texts :)

By the way, have you come across Estampie? They're effectively the same band (to the point of playing many of the same pieces), but using traditional rather than electric instruments.

I have! I have. I love their stuff too, 'Seigneurs, sachiez', 'Summerwunne' and 'Exiit Diluculo' in particular get played a lot during spring and summer, I'm looking forward to the weather catching up so I can listen to them again :)

Also, here is what happened :

I was going to write you a letter, but then I saw you were DJing this last Vagabonds, and I thought, well, I don't need to write to him then, I'll talk to him there, except then I was too exhausted to go, and now I still intend to write but I don't want to lose the chance of seeing you in February, so, are you still free any Fridays? All of mine are free right now and I'd love to see you if you can. xx

Next Friday has been unexpectedly taken up by a meeting in Portsmouth, unfortunately, but the following one (11th) should be OK for me, if that's convenient for you?
