Don't forget, people usually react to guys flying jets into large buildings. I think 9/11 has a lot to do with the newfound passion people have for politics. We'll see how long it lasts, ya know?

Damn. Kerry actually took a stand on something. And here I thought it would never happen. I mean, it's sort of a vague stand against something, but it's kind of for something, too. Maybe now he'll start working on making himself look good, rather than making himself look good by comparison.

I was reading an article on Slate the other day about how Kerry's team is actually trying to keep him off of television, because his approval rating goes up when the focus moves to Bush, but goes down when he makes appearances himself. Such a poster boy for "comprimise candidate."

Yeah, he's still a waffly, relatively non-inspiring candidate, but maybe this is a sign he's heading in the right direction. I like how he picked Seattle as the safest place, politically, that he could have one of his first anti-Bush speeches (as before now it has been solely "I'm not bad" speeches).

That's really funny. John Stewart made a similar comment recently about how Kerry somehow looks worse when acknowledging that he went to Yale than Bush does when talking about prisoner abuse. Funny but disturbing, really.

One other thing, the Slate thing is very similar to how Dick Cheney is functioning in the press. The same CBS poll I noted above found that very few people know who Bush's VP is (only 30% of registered voters), but that among those who did know who he was only 16% actually liked him, and that was about the same with Democrats and Republicans. Now that there is a poor approval rating.
