Saiyuki catch-up

I'm a huge Saiyuki fan, but I hadn't seen everything available.  So last weekend I watched Gunlock on YouTube.  (Mild spoilers to follow)  I can't say it was my favorite.  Hazel wasn't appealing to me, and he seemed too weak to be *that* much of a challenge

I was just skimming your LJ, and saw this entry, which I didn't notice last time. Maybe because I just finished watching Gunlock last week. But I wanted to say, I love Hazel! I'm sorry you didn't like him so much. He's really cute, with his old-style, almost geisha-esque Kyoto dialect (didn't know that? Now you do). But actually, I think he comes off a lot better in the manga. The anime just takes the first couple chapters he appears in the manga and runs with it, but the manga really gives him more development, plus it takes the whole gang in interesting directions. So I definitely recommend that you read up on Saiyuki Reload manga, if you haven't yet. ^_^

Well, if the manga makes him more interesting, then I may change my mind about him! ^_^ (And I had no idea he had a Kyoto dialect. I just thought the voice actor was trying to give him an American cowboy accent to go with his hat!)
