Well then. My party got flensed as widely predicted. Eh, we probably deserve it. We were handed the keys to the kingdom eight years ago and we threw it in the toilet

I'm in a strange place. I voted for Obama and am pleased that he won, but... I'm a little frightened that the Dems are in control of both the House and the Senate. Ultimately I am a moderate, and that much weight behind either party makes me nervous.
Well, they aren't in complete control. The Democrats couldn't get enough of a majority to push everything through with brute force. Ask the Republicans how annoying it can be to have a small minority of congressmen bog absolutely everything down. :D
But yeah, now that the Dems won it, it'll be interesting to see what kinds of initiatives they'll try to push through.

If you need a gopher and coffee guy, just lemmie know. *_*;
Well, I basically took week one 'off'. Did basically nothing except family things and goofing around.
Now at the beginning of week two, I'm starting to get serious in looking into some options. At a glance at the newspapers things look pretty nasty in the job-seeking area. This is definitely not the time to do anything except, like, burger-flipping ends-meeting to-pay-rent kinda thing. Education for the next half year or so would be ideal, I think, if I can catch it. Hafta look into stuff.
Sorry about the flensing, my party didn't even HAVE a legitimate shot so I don't know what you are whining about. I am a Libertarian if you want to know.
Living in Chicago on this election night: INSANITY I was kidnapped by my neighbors and forced to drink much alcohol in celebration.
Sigh... I know that Frodo lied and Bush had the Ring, but now I wonder if it didn't get secretly passed on? LOL
heh, don't worry. nobody's more aware than us Dems about the mess the country's in, and the amount of work it'll take to start getting things in order again.
FWIW, I've got a lot of respect for McCain and wish he had been elected instead of Bush eight years ago.
The problem with McCain is that even half of his own party hates him. Dems respect him but they'll still never vote for him. Plenty of Republicans ended up voting for Obama rather than him. Most telling was Rush Friggin Limbagh of all people saying 'I'll vote for Hilary Clinton before I vote for McCain', which is completely damning.
He's a maverick. And while Mavericks are great in congress to keep people honest, they aren't necessarily the best leaders. I think they knew that whomever was running after Bush is completely doomed. Might as well give the crazy S.O.B. a shot as he was probably promised.
I think the most shocking thing was that he finagled a somewhat reasonable chance.
