Confirmation that I'm screwed and a door prize make today the most positive day of my job hunt, twice over.
For some time, I've suspected both my age and the college I attended [2 decades ago] are making my job hunt difficult. I've been directly told I was wrong a number of times by well intentioned people.
Today, a direct report to the president of Oracle, quoting the president of Oracle, asserted that the third most important project to Oracle is college recruitment. He followed that by saying only 6 college/university names can get a resume to his desk.
This was a positive experience. My suspicions were confirmed and I was reassured of my ability to understand the limited information before me. Plus, I walked out of the presentation having won a door prize of $250 in Amex Chks. I’ve not been paid over $100/hr in a long time.
It’s been months since I’ve had any hope, but I keep doing my lemming best.
