So glad I ran across booju_newju .

Wait, you mean that if I don't practice or agree with all AP practices I'm *not* a bad parent? That I could do things like circ, spank, feed my kids red #40 sometimes, let them run around in the backyard without me there at 4 and that folks won't think I'm terrible enough to call CPS?

A relief! So I might not have to move to ( Read more... )

Confession: I've given Toby things to eat KNOWING they have trans fats. Not even McDonalds does that anymore... The key here is just to outparent your spouse. If you both do that, you'll have the most parentedest child ever.

In all seriousness, I get sad whenever I see the "Parenting" section at a book store. You'd think parenting had more rules than sentential Calculus. I bet there's some poor single mother out there with flash cards.

I quit that comm back when it was booju_mooju. and have stayed the heck away from booju_newju. there are people there that think raising your kid to believe in God is child abuse.

People like that are pretty much everywhere, I suppose...
Anyhow, a couple of years ago I managed to explain to such a girl it would be simply impossible for practicing Christians NOT to raise there children to believe in God, at least if they agree with AP, and that it's even more so for orthodox Jews or Moslems. It' a pity it was all in Russian so that I can't show it to both of you now. :)

I fail to see how hard it is to understand for folks like that that we are pretty much doing the same thing they are - teaching our children what we believe to be true. Isn't that our obligation as parents?

Guess I'm preaching to the choir, here :)

That's pretty much the reason I didn't join. Some other things I read were refreshing, though.
