And this is the scene that occurs every day since they have been awake.
"I'm all in." The sword master declared while pushing forward all of his belongings. The look of disbelief that appears on the man with the handlebar mustache and the exasperated sighs that follow, make Tyr believe he just hit the jackpot. He did always pride himself for his impressive card skills or was it his sword skills? Bah, both made everyone else look like fools anyway.
"I've told you about a million times that you can't do that in this game." The table rattles under the force of Fabio's fist as he tosses his cards down and rubs his eyes to keep from beating the rules of the game into that stupid man.
"I can do what I want! Can't I, baldy-sir?" Oblivious to the threatening aura directed his way, Tyr turns to the man with seniority. Which at this table happened to be Don Gentry, the Third Vongola boss. And the fact that his reputation for being an incredibly soft and understanding man who always defends the little man, is definitely not why Tyr is looking to him for backup.
"The rules aren't important, just so long as we have fun. Right?" The largest man at the table manages to say through a very nervous smile. It was a simple card game, it's not suppose to turn out this way. Then again after months of silence and the occasional snores and sleepy mumbles, it was bound to get intense. Gentry always enjoyed these quality moments with his Family and he usually played the role of referee when things went sour, like the sporting competition between Fuji and Dante. He laughed again as the memories passed his eyes like frames on a picture reel. Saddens knocked on the door, threatening to come in but Gentry wouldn't allow it. He would see them all again soon and there was still time for more pleasant memories. "Yes, there is still time," he thought as his hand absently moved to his heart.
"Ugh, this is the only game all of us can play together! You can't gamble-" Stopped with a look from the Spanish beauty that clearly told him it was pointless to argue with an idiot, Fabio decided to leave the table and smoke a cigar instead. His thoughts wandered back to the time before the Darkness came and he allowed only the shadows to see the small smile. His wife was alive and no words could express how proud he was of his only daughter.
"Finally! I thought this stupid card game would never end." Francisca practically flew out of her chair and within seconds the match was lit and she was under the thick cover of toxic smoke. It was a stupid game that she hadn't played in years, but that little blond didn't know of any other game and the bald giant wanted them all to participate. If this man was seriously the one to follow Ange, hell. What happened to the world? Under the cloud of smoke her hand turns the cigarette case and with a blush she's thankful no one can see, puts it away and kicks something over. Thinking of that specific idiot right here and in this place! How infuriating.
"I was actually starting to have fun..." Her voice trembles and her eyesight begins to blur. They weren't playing long, but it was fun. She was having fun and it was the first time since the Darkness happened that she was able to do that. Of course she didn't mind going to sleep, deep down inside she knew it was necessary but that didn't mean that now that she was awake she wasn't allowed to miss the girls and Daniela. What if they forgot about her? She didn't have a sense of time in this place but was she gone long enough for them to replace her? The tears stop and her face flushed with anger. "NO! I won't let them! I'll kick their butts until they take me back!" In such a room as this, there was no doubt of her voice carrying; much less ringing in the ears of the others. At once her anger melts away to embarrassment and blushing furiously Orfelina hides under the card table with her cats. She's definitely glad that the other girls weren't there to witness that... "The others.." The tears fall gently unto the fur of the animals she holds tight for comfort.
Honey brown eyes watch with interest as the others dive into their own memories; all but one anyway. Tyr didn't seem like the type to hover over things like that. It's true that none of them have experienced the Darkness before and he understands what it means to be awake again. He could always tell them that there was nothing to worry about, that this kind of thing happened a lot, but that would be cheating. Setting his bottle of beer down, Iemitsu grins at the others. "Alright, breaks over! Come on, let's get this game over with."
There's a groan or two from Fabio and Francisca as they simultaneously grind out their smoking nails and return to their chairs. Orfelina emerges from beneath the table, placing the two cats on her lap she pets them quietly while she watches the rest and waits for the game to start. Gentry, having not moved from his place, holds out a tray of chocolate chip cookies for the others while Iemitsu begins to pass out the cards. Francisca refuses immediately and Orfelina is the only one to witness the matador's blush. Maybe after the game she could ask her about it and oh! maybe they could be friends! Tyr was the last to make it to the table, chair legs scraping annoying against the floor as he gathers his cards.
"Each of us gets seven cards," Iemitsu begins to explain." The youngest will go first and she'll be asking one of us for a specific card." His eyes never leave Tyr, knowing full well that he's the only one that needs the rules explained to every single round. "If you have it, hand it over and then it'll be your turn." The rest begin to rearrange their cards to their liking and wonder mildly if this time they'll get through the entire game before something happens. "If you don't then you tell her, 'Go Fish.'" He didn't mention a thing about bets and was hoping that explanation would be simple enough for the legendary swordsman to understand. "Go ahead, Orfelina."
But before she even gets to ask anything, the "genius" interrupts."Wait, waitwait," he motions with his hands for greater affect,"so do I make my bet now or after?"
At this precise moment all sound is placed on mute. All colors are in black and white and every single devastatingly frightening aura reaches over nine thousand. The room explodes with sound the next second and Tyr vanishes from sight as the group piles on with the intent of taking a limb as a souvenir. But, considering this is taking place in front of Gentry the beatings stopped; not for long though.
Francisca's idea to stuff Tyr's pockets with candy and use him as a substitute for a pinata was allowed just as long as he stayed conscious for the entire thing.
