A Gentle Breeze...

Title: A Gentle Breeze
Rating: G
Fandom: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Pairing: Reborn x Luce
Disclaimer: Respectively Akira Amano's characters; the squirrel was named by me (though even the squirrel is Amano's. xD). I know this is horrible, but it can always be worse.

The gentle breeze whispering through the over grown flowers and grass, ruffling the simple white dress the woman wore. Silken strands of dark blue hair lifting and curling with the sweet scent the current held from passing through those fragrant meadows. The tree leaves rustle, the birds chirp merrily and the gentle murmur of a small spring not too far away cheerfully adding to the mix of a season waking from a long cold slumber. Flowers of all colors and types surround the woman with the white dress and rich blue hair. Colors that seem to intensify the woman's humble beauty, colors that had not made an appearance all Winter; made their debut just for her. Another gentle, caressing breeze lifts those light strands, having them slide across the soft features of the Sky Arcobaleno.

The corners of full lips twitch and soon a smile tugs and she succumbs to it, that smile that she's unable to keep from her face. A slender hand reaches up to brush away those flitting strands and again she turns her azure irises up to a matching colored sky. She's not looking at anything in particular as her eyes remain aloft to the endless heavens above. The quiet rustling through the high grass pull her gaze down and to the left of her, seeking the cause of the gentle disturbance; that came from no wind. She stares intently in between the stems of green and yellow, watching, waiting for the little creature to expose itself to her.

The woman did not have time to be impatient as she let out a melodious giggle at the sight of the furry noise maker. Lani, her squirrel familiar had made an appearance with her little claws filled with nuts. She scuttled closer to settle atop the baby mountain Luce had been carrying for what seemed (to Lani) more time than necessary.

"Did you find everything you needed?" The loving voice asked the small rodent on her bump. Luce received the reply of two nonchalant clicks before Lani began to busy herself in devouring a brown nut. Luce found herself smiling again and with a careful finger, she let it glide lightly over her familiar's head. The squirrel made no move to acknowledge the gesture, but it did not go unnoticed as the rodent loved those moments of kindness from the woman before her.

"Are you done yet?" Came a voice from behind Luce. The voice belonging to a man in a black Italian suit, a fedora that seemed to hold a scrawny lizard on the brim and sideburns that curled adorably in contrast to the man's stern gaze.

She would never show how much it startled her to have him suddenly there where he was not a moment ago. How the sound of his voice excited her and caused a small sliver of heat rise to her cheeks- All of that, and more, would remain hidden from the hitman. And while she tried to hide this from him, Reborn would in turn, never let Luce know that his breath caught whenever his onyx eyes caught sight of her. How there was majestic way to everything she did that had Reborn so easily spellbound- He too, would hide this from the Sky.

"No, but the offer still stands for you to join me, Reborn." Her words sweet, kind in their measure as Luce continued to face forward, not turning around to meet his eyes.

"... I told you I didn't think there was a point to just sitting and staring at nature."

"Even the top most assassins take a break and enjoy the scenery."

"Should I find you one then?"

"Just come here and sit with me." She laughed, almost in disbelief at how incredibly stubborn the other was, especially when it came to doing things out of his element.

With a sigh that he made sure carried off to the other, Reborn took his place an arms length away and tipping his fedora up enough; he began to stare at this so called "nature."

She watched him from the corner of her blue gaze and could not keep the amused grin from painting across her gentle features. Her squirrel familiar also seemed to be watching Reborn, only it could not be said the look was the same as Luce's. More of a squirrel "you-are-bothering-my-alone-time-with-her-go-away"-look, that spoke loud and clear to the Sun, which only had him grunt in amusement. This, however, only caused for Leon to skitter over to the other side of the black fedora and return a gaze of, "get-over-it" to the brown squirrel.

Neither spoke, though neither found a need to fill the silence with meaningless conversation either, as they both were quite content with silence. This was probably another reason that had Reborn so captivated by the Sky Arcobaleno. He did not have to spend minutes, upon hours listening to the woman tell him of her day, ask him about his, or demand that they talk about their feelings like so many others had. Then again, somewhere in the recesses of his mind, Reborn knew. Knew that if she had wanted to go on a tirade of stupid mindless questions, he would answer them. All of them, for her. Did it make him weak? Perhaps, he thought and only admitted to himself in the lovely security he called his mind. Still, Luce was the only one he could be caught dead doing something out of the ordinary for.

"Reborn?" The voice soft, whispering out to him and breaking their comforting silence.

"What is it?" He tried making it sound annoyed, though even that failed him and it caused her to smile.

"Thank you."

Two simple words. Nothing major, nothing that was suppose to make him wonder if she had gone insane, yet. Those two simple words had the world's strongest hitman, blush. A deep cotton candy tint washed over those manly cheeks at her words. What she was thanking him for, he was not sure, nor did he understand why in the world he was getting so red over it, but he answered her with a small grunt.

With a sudden gust of that sweet scented wind, a tinkling laugh erupts from the woman at the man's side. A small hand placed to the side of her swollen stomach as the cheerful laughter continues and then it's joined by a much deeper chuckle. The sounds mingling and mixing as one in perfect harmony. Squirrel and chameleon gaze at one another before looking at their owners in worried glances, then they just creep away from the humans to share animal secrets in the high grass.

A moment longer passes and they quiet down. Luce turns to the Italian male, eyes bright with the laughing tears that twinkle the edges of deep pools of blue. Cheeks flushed a flattering red and her arm stretches out to caress the other's own tinted cheek. Once again he's lost to those hypnotizing orbs of endless ocean sky, where the color is so unbelievably light no other on earth can hold to their rich beauty. Reborn leans into her hand, if only briefly before pulling away and taking the smaller hand in his larger one, bringing it up to his lips and leaving a single kiss. The kiss itself lingering on the smooth surface of her knuckles and causing that blush to darken. They say nothing else, do nothing more as they turn their attention back to the serene scenery before them.

Her delicate hand held tight and secure in his as neither makes a move to pull away or let go.
