Carly pushed the door open and threw her keys into her purse. She was so exhausted, that she didn't even notice Arthur until he scooped her up in an embrace.
"You're finally back here--with me," he said near her ear. "It's so boring here without you."
She laughed and kissed him before she pulled away a little to look at him. "That's only because you don't know anyone yet."
"I'm not interested in anyone but you," he said, still grinning while he leaned in to kiss her again.
She pushed him into the living room so she could kick the door closed. "Really? You don't need a Paul replacement? A friend who will bother you here as well as back in Minnesota?"
He stared at her for a moment and then reached for his phone in his back pocket. "I don't need a Paul replacement. I never lost the original Paul." He held his phone up to her so she could see the eight texts he hadn't yet opened.
"Okay, you've convinced me." She pushed him on the couch. "So all you need is me, huh?"
Arthur nodded. "I've been waiting for five days for you to walk through that door."
